The FIFA confederations cup is now officially over with a new champion called Brasil. An amazing display of football in order to win every game along with the final, after losing 2 – 0 after the end of the first half to the United States. The States played a good tournament, after losing the two first games, they beat Egypt which was the team that almost tied with Brasil, and beat Italy for the first time in history. They then took Spain out and almost won the cup as Brasil seemed imminent to lose the final. Brasil however, managed somehow to pull off an amazing win with brilliant display of offensive football for the second half. It seemed like that Kaka goal that was not considered a goal by the refs somehow woke up a sleeping giant and they then started to play real futebol arte and won the cup. They will be very confident in their next game together against the Argies at Argentina on September fifth.

South Africa also played a good tournament, and maintained class against major teams, and showcased that they too can be competitive come next year. Egypt was another major team that showcased tenacity, and really good football. It reminds of the Turks and their tough physical predominance alongside an appetite to win games. Its just sad that they went out partying one night before the game with the USA, if it was not for this, who knows how far they could have gone.
