Astarloza gets a victory in today´s Tour de France, this being the third for the Spaniards. In other Tour news, Alberto Contador states that he is happy with the way things are going, and is thankful for Lance Armstrong’s support in him helping out his teammate. Armstrong has apparently given up the title in order to help out Contador get it as he seems tired and does not feel that he will make it in the long run.

The first game of exhibition matches was played yesterday among the top clubs in the world to start the new season, and it has to be said that Real Madrid displayed a poor display of football. Even though they won, the players were not at all in top form, and the offensive playmaking was quite poor. Liverpool lost the game to a mediocre team. This all shows that there has to be a tremendous amount of work to be had in order for the major teams to regain form before the next month´s opening season games. Benzema was the only player to score a goal for Madrid given an excellent defensive pass. Some state that he can become the next Ronaldo, but worries shine over a lack of forwards on the team. They have the best lineup in the world, but few players who can really score in tough matches. Although players like CRonaldo appear positive, the coaches are somewhat worried. They just bought a 4 million Spaniard to try to move the lines forward today.
